Patrick Morrissey is an Assistant Professor in Environmental Process Engineering in the School of Engineering, Trinity College Dublin. His research interest involves studying how various processes occur in the natural environment and then developing numerical models which represent these systems. He has a particular focus on studying the fate and transport water-borne pollutants in the natural and built environment, specifically the sources and fate of contaminants in rivers and groundwater. His research involves field studies which are then used to develop models of the environmental system to gain further insight and conduct scenario analysis. Prior to joining Trinity College in 2022, Patrick worked in the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as a numerical modeller developing models and tools aimed a Water Framework Directive assessment and measures development. He has also spent several years working in the environmental engineering industry specialising in the area of hydrological and hydrogeological assessment and has also completed a number of post-doctoral research projects.
