ARAS AN PHIARSAIGH
Chief Technical Officer 1 (Electronic & Elect. Engineering)
I Shane Hunt (BE, MSc) am the Chief Technical Officer in the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Trinity College, University of Dublin. I joined the college in 1999 coming from the electrical services industry. I was promoted to senior technician in 2002 and chief technician in 2013. My primary duty is the management of the technical team that supports the department's operational, teaching and research activities. I also provide support to teaching and research activities directly. Asset management, budgeting and facility management are among many other duties. I am interested in anything that carries a current. In the last 3 years I led the design of new 1E12 course and during the pandemic I led the redesign of 1E6 to allow the study of electronics using a take home kit. I have a first class honours degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from TU Dublin and Postgraduate Diploma in Education. A recent hobby project was the design, procurement and commissioning of 3KVA off grid solar system. I endeavour to bring a can do attitude to all tasks in conjunction with a positive safety culture.
