Her current research interest is in the biology of ageing, including frailty, falls, resilience and well-being. She has a particular interest in characterizing biomarkers (genes, proteins, metabolites, processes) implicated in these age-related disorders. The goal of her research is to identify early biomarkers for use in screening and intervention in the progression of frailty and investigate patterns of health care use. This work will inform frailty detection/prevention/intervention, frailty-related health service use and provision and raise public awareness of frailty on the island of Ireland.
